Two-time Olympic Games gold medallists Jerry Tuwai is the captain of the Fiji men’s rugby sevens team to the Paris Olympic Games.
The 35-year-old halfback also captained the Fiji men’s rugby sevens team that won the gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in Japan.
Leadership will not be an issue for the 15-member squad with the inclusion of Waisea Nacuqu, who captained the Fiji sevens team that won the 2022 Sevens Rugby World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa.
Also, the likes of Joseva Talacolo and Ponipate Loganimasi have captained the national sevens team during the HSBC SVNS series.
Fiji men’s sevens head coach Osea Kolinisau in finalising his squad said: “The Olympic Games is a unique event, and our biggest challenge will be adjusting to the rhythm and flow that comes with the international stage, given our limited time together.
“However, I am confident in the talent and experience of our players.”
Notable exclusion from the squad includes; Napolioni Bolaca, Josua Vakurinabili, Pilipo Bukayaro, Suliano Volivoli and the list goes on.
