Team Fiji Receives President’s Blessing

He acknowledged the team management and athletes for their commitment and sacrifices throughout their preparations.

The President Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere gave the Team Fiji contingent to the Paris Olympic Games his best wishes.

The Team Fiji contingent led by chef de mission Sale Sorovaki presented their i-tatau at The State House in Suva yesterday.

He acknowledged the team management and athletes for their commitment and sacrifices throughout their preparations.

“On behalf of my wife and I, and all the people of Fiji, we wish you well competing at the Olympics in Paris France next month. Enjoy yourselves, listen to your coaches and always remember that you represent Fiji and your families,” Ratu Wiliame said.

Sorovaki said Fiji would be represented in the sport of rugby- men’s and women’s sevens, sailing- men’s and women’s, Taekwondo, swimming, athletics and judo. The Olympic Games is from July 26 to April 11.

Meanwhile, the Fiji men’s rugby sevens team is now down to 15 players, with two players to be dropped before they fly out to Paris.

The players were at the i-tatau. Fiji won the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Fiji 7s squad:
