It was a narrow escape for the FMF Suva women’s rugby side when they beat Namosi 31-29 in the final to win the ANZ Marama Championship title in Nausori today.
Suva had a narrow 12-10 lead at halftime with veteran Namosi halfback Ana Maria Roqica exploiting loopholes in their defence.
A yellow card to Namosi inside centre, Rusila Nagasau, for a high tackle. This saw the Akosita Ravato captained-side Suva take advantage of the situation by running in three quick tries to further their lead to 31-10.
Namosi fought back gallantly and managed to score three tries with one conversion missing to bow out 31-29.
