SA set to sizzle as warm snap expected

While it hasn’t quite been four seasons in one day, it’s been wild weather for South Australia since stepping into spring.

During the first week of September, the state was lashed with heavy rain and damaging 100km/h wind.

But the warm days are finally coming.

From Sunday, temperatures will continue to rise through the week, peaking on Thursday at 31C for the state.

A spokesman for the Bureau of Meteorology said, “Tomorrow, we can expect a sunny top of 20 degrees in the city.

“And then warming up through the working week.

“So a week of fine weather coming up, or dry weather, I should say.”

Port Pirie and surrounding areas will enjoy the warmest temperatures next week, climbing from mid-20C to 31C on Thursday.

Adelaide CBD and surrounds will also rise to 28C on Thursday, while the highest temperate for the south of the state will land on 22C for Robe and surrounding areas.

It comes after a rain bomb hit South Australia on Thursday, with a total of 13.4mm of rainfall recorded in the city, with heavier falls in southeast SA, including 32mm at Willunga.

It was a washout for the Royal Adelaide Show, with a number of nearby carparks being forced to close due to being muddy on Thursday.

This was followed by damaging winds that arrived on Thursday night and early into Friday morning, which left hundreds of residents without power.
