RKS Presents Traditional Apology

“Rugby is a sport that teaches students from primary, secondary and other levels to be disciplined on and off the field.”

The Lelelan Memorial School Under-18 side needs to dig deep and reflect on their past experiences to qualify the playoff of the Vodafone Fiji Secondary School Rugby Union Deans competition.

Lelean Old Scholars Association (LOSA) President Vukinavanua Nawalowalo yesterday said, “The only thing that needs to be priority is discipline on and off the field.

Nawalowalo was also at Davuilevu to witness the matanigasau (traditional apology) presented by Ratu Kadavulevu principal, senior students and staff.

The stoning incident at Lodoni on Saturday was sparked after LMS students swore at the RKS boys on their way to Dawasamu Secondary School for the Eastern zone Deans competition on Saturday.

“We have to be realistic, this is what teachers face every day in school and we are all have a part to play in bringing up children,” Nawlowalo said.

“That is why we have stakeholders, parents plus old scholars that are part of molding good citizens and respectable sportspeople.

“Rugby is a sport that teaches students from primary, secondary and other levels to be disciplined on and off the field.”

The LMS U18 side is playing Tailevu North College on Friday to decide for third place while RKS and Queen Victoria School have qualified for the quarter-finals from the Eastern zone competition.

LMS last won the Deans trophy in 2014 while RKS last made a clean sweep in 2017.

Nawalowalo said LMS as a school belonging to the Methodist Church of Fiji and Rotuma promotes good relationships with all.

“We have to be humble and be disciplined on and off the field then we can have the win this Friday,” he said.

“Nobody had expected the incident to happen. Those who were part of the rowdy act need to have learnt their lesson. We need to move on,” he said.

The LMS U18 team meets Tailevu North College in the Eastern Zone Fiji Secondary School Rugby Union playoff at HFC, Bank Stadium Suva at 12.30pm.
