REAL KAKAMORA MAINTAIN TOP SPOT

THE completion of Match Week 6 in the TSL last weekend saw Real Kakamora remain atop the score table after securing another victory of 1-0 over Waneagu United with a 61st minute goal from Michael Lalo.

For the Real Kakamora, the only goal from Lalo was enough to maintain their grip on the top spot of the tally standings.

The Henderson Eels, Central Coast, Marist FC and Waneagu United also saw climbs in their standings last weekend.

“It’s a work in progress to maintain these five unbeaten runs in the league,” Real Kakamora Head Coach Steve Aumanu Jr told SIFF Media in a post-match interview.

“Fairly we are now finding our rhythm as a team composed of very young players, but they have executed what is expected.”

As a new side under the Real Kakamora brand, it’s been a challenging start to the season for the former Waneagu United Coach.

“The first time it’s challenging, there were a lot of inputs we made in terms of training with the one objective of competing fairly in the top flight.”

Henderson Eels also bagged maximum points to move up the standings over the weekend with the return of former coach Eddie Marahare, now giving instructions from the sideline in a 5-0 demolition of Southern United.

KOSSA FC’s losing woes continue, suffering a 0-4 loss to Central Coast FC, who moved up to the runners-up spot, 2 points behind the current leaders.

Waneagu United and Marist FC moved up the Telekom S-League standings after respective wins on Match Day 12 on Sunday.

Bobby Kennedy Leslie’s 13th-minute strike made the difference in a dramatic clash against a determined FC Juniper Tree, keeping a tight contest mid-table.

“Tough win for us. FC Juniper Tree is a competitive side as it was obvious today. But we are satisfied to walk away with the 3 points,” Waneagu United Head Coach William Omokirio said.

Marist FC’s second-half Alfred Sade’s goal separated the sides in a mouthwatering contest against Honiara City FC as the Patrick Miniti-led side moved up three places in the standings.

Match Week 6 only featured five matches due to Solomon Warriors’ delayed return to the country following their OFC Champions League campaign.

Nevertheless, the champions will take on SOSA FC in a mid-week catch-up schedule for Wednesday at 3pm at the Lawson Tama Stadium.
