Radio star’s niece swings snake in wild video

A courageous rescue has unfolded in the backyard of radio star Kip Wightman’s family home, where his niece, Rosie, bravely battled a snake to free her pet guinea pig from its clutches.

The dramatic incident, captured on the home’s CCTV, occurred last Sunday at their Eumundi residence on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

In a video shared on the KIIS FM breakfast host’s Instagram on Wednesday, Rosie can be seen casually approaching the backyard shrubs before discovering her guinea pig, Maxibon, in the jaws of a snake.

The brave 12-year-old then swung the snake around to free her beloved pet.

A garden stool toppled during the struggle, and a black poodle sought cover as Rosie continued her courageous efforts.

Moments later, Rosie’s parents rushed to the scene.

Her dad removed the snake from Maxibon, allowing the pet to scurry back to safety in the shrubs while the snake slithered away.

Visibly shocked, Rosie and her dad checked on Maxibon, and Wightman’s Instagram post documenting the ordeal has garnered thousands of views and numerous comments praising Rosie’s bravery.

One user exclaimed: “Well done, Rosie! What a legend you are!”.

Another commented on her courage, saying: “She’s much braver than me; I would have just run screaming. I can imagine the noise of this chaotic scene – incredible young lady!”
