Qaqa duo join FJFW’s influencer pool – The Fiji Times

Sibling sensation Angelica and David Qaqa have taken the TikTok world by storm, redefining creative content and beauty standards in Fiji. Their unique style and substantial online following have earned them a coveted spot in the Fiji Fashion Week (FJFW) Pool of Influencers.

David, currently a flight attendant with Fiji Airways and an aspiring pilot, balances his demanding career while creating engaging content. His sister Angelica, fresh from graduating from the LDS Church College, plans to continue her education at Brigham Young University in Hawaii. Together, their combined influence has captivated nearly half a million followers, with their reach organically nearing one million across social media platforms.

Their content, which ranges from fashion tips to lifestyle vlogs, has resonated deeply with audiences, making them standout choices for FJFW.

“I was excited when I got asked to be part of the Influencer Pool for FJFW, especially doing it alongside my younger sister,” said David, reflecting on their joint venture into the fashion scene.

Angelica, equally thrilled, added: “I never really thought that my online content would be recognised and picked up by others as ‘influential’. So while it means so much to me, the pressure is on to be influential in the fashion scene.”

The Qaqa siblings hail from Qamea and Kadavu and come from a large family of 11 children, with a history of notable achievements. Their sister Sukanika Qaqa was a Miss Hibiscus contestant, while another sister, Hally Qaqa, was crowned Miss Fiji in 2017 and 2018. Raised in the LDS church, their values and background play a significant role in their content and public personas.

Lorisha Lopez, FJFW’s marketing coordinator emphasised the importance of engaging young and relatable influencers for this year’s event.

“The focus for fashion week this year is to engage as many relatable, popular, and young influencers to help inspire the younger generation to take fashion in Fiji a bit more seriously. Capacity building and upskilling are crucial for FJFW since we started 17 years ago, and this is a different angle we’re taking to ensure that we’re engaging our youths,” Ms Lopez explained.

FJFW has a history of collaborating with bloggers and influencers. From 2013 to 2016, Fashion Throne Fiji, a group of stylish young men, provided comprehensive social media coverage and fashion reviews. This year, the Influencer Pool boasts six remarkable individuals: Ozni Delana, Varea Grey, Angelica Qaqa, David Qaqa, Jonathan Suka, and Shania Singh.

As Fiji Fashion Week approaches, the anticipation builds to see how these young influencers will bring fresh perspectives and inspire a new generation in the fashion world. With their impressive reach and dynamic content, Angelica and David are set to leave a lasting mark on Fiji’s fashion landscape.

Fiji Fashion Week Resort Cruise and Resort Luxe Show will be held this Friday and Saturday at the Vodafone Arena. Tickets are available at the Fiji Fashion Week Office, Shopaholic and Damodar City Food Court.
