Parents pledge to support newly crowned Miss SI

THE parents of the newly crowned Miss Solomon Islands Elsie Polosovai have vowed their support towards their daughter’s reign, including her representation of Solomon Islands at the next Miss Pacific Islands Pageant.

Ms Polosovai won the crown last Saturday night from five other contestants and her victory means her representation of the country at the 2024-2025 Miss Pacific Islands Pageant to be hosted by Solomon Islands in Honiara in February next year.

Peter and Mary Polosovai vowed their support towards their daughter during her Miss Solomon Islands reign and her representation of the country at the regional pageant platform in an interview with Solomon Star after she emerged victorious as the new Miss Solomon Islands.

“It is a big win for us the family and also the Lauru People’s Association and Lauru community.

“I would say that this is a big win. It doesn’t come as just a win but comes with responsibilities as well.

“Therefore, we will do all the best that we can to continue supporting her just like how we supported her in her journey as a pageant contestant to the crowning night.

“We believe that her dream has come true. We will make sure that we render the support that she needs both morally and financially in her preparation towards the next Miss Pacific Islands Pageant in 2025,” Mrs Polosovai said.

Ms Polosovai is the eldest child in a family with four siblings.

“Elsie is the eldest and the only daughter in our family and I could say that she is very responsible. She is cheerful, full of laughter and love and very supportive to her siblings. When she’s around us or far away, she always shows support to our family.

“I also like to thank her aunties here in Solomon Islands who have supported and looked after Elsie here in the country in the leadup to the crowning,” Ms Polosovai’s mother said.

Ms Polosovai’s parents reside in Auckland, New Zealand, and have come to Solomon Islands to watch her contest for the Miss Solomon Islands crown and were thrilled with the outcome.

Ms Polosovai’s father works as a Maintenance Technician, while her mother works as a High School teacher.

Ms Polosovai’s father thanked his Lauru family and supporters here in Solomon Islands for supporting his daughter during her Miss Solomon Islands Pageant journey.

“The only one thing we can do is work together in doing things for the betterment of our country Solomon Islands,” he added.
