Defending Skipper Cup champions FMF Suva rugby team is not carried away with their 38-16 win over Jack’s Nadi in the semifinal at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori, in the weekend.

Suva head coach Solo Nute told SUNsports said they were going to celebrate the win before they turn their focus on BLK Nadroga side for this Saturday’s Skipper Cup grand-final.

“We will go back to the drawing board,” he said.

“(In the semifinal) Eventhough we controlled our set piece but our finishing is something that we will go back and iron out.”

The former Suva prop said another concern was on their lineout throws.

Overall, Nute said he was proud of his players who gave their all to secure the win on a wet surface.

“We worked so hard the past few days.

“The effort and the sacrifices paid off and we look forward to defending our title,” Nute said.

“We were concentrating on players in the national sevens team like Terio Tamani, Sakiusa Siqila and Tira Welagi but when they left out there was a big vacuum.

“For us, we don’t go anywhere to find players but we trust our Under- 20 reps to come up and fill the gaps.”

Nute said his young players coped with the pressure of playing in the knockout stage of the competition.

“The experience they got will help develop them become a better players.

“We don’t have any (Fijian) Drua players but only Isoa Tuwai from the Drua development squad playing.

“The rest of the players are from our club competition. To come out and win against teams that have key Drua players is a bonus for us,” he said.
