Netball Fiji will commence its second season of the FinanceHub Super League from next Saturday, June 29. The 2024 season will see an addition of three new teams into the competition.

The Nadi netball team and the two national Under-21 teams have been added to the 2024 FinanceHub Super League. The tournament will be a round-robin format of seven rounds over seven weeks followed by the final where each team will be ranked and the champion being crowned.

The Super League is the country’s premier Tier One netball competition and was added to Netball Fiji’s competition schedule to set the platform for the country’s top netball players to showcase their talents.

This year the tournament is serving as a selection platform for players to make either the Fiji Pearls or the Fiji A squads.

The announcement of the Pearls and the Fiji A squads will be made at the end of the tournament. The squads will then go into preparation work for the 2025 international netball season.

More opportunities

Netball Fiji chief executive officer Vivian Koster said the tournament has been adjusted this year to give the opportunity to all teams to play home and away games.

“Each team will host games at home which will allow their fans to cheer for them. It will also allow for our young netballers around the country to watch their favourite players in action,” she said.

“For these reasons we are grateful to our sponsors FinanceHub for investing in netball and young people and understanding the importance of sport in promoting healthy living and building communities.”

The round robin format will see each team hosting four home games and playing three away games.

The 2023 Super League champion Suva Capitols will take on National 21&U team Kikau in round one at the FMF Gymnasium on next Friday, June 28, while the other matches will be held on the next day (June 29) where Lautoka hosts Tailevu at the Lautoka Multipurpose court, Nadi travels Sigatoka’s Lawaqa Park to face Nadroga while Nasinu takes on National 21&U team Kacau at the LICI Courts in Laucala.
