Namoce Determined to Put Final Tick in the Box

Namoce is confident that his team will defend the Skipper Cup title against the Nadroga Stallions on Saturday.

Suva robust young centre Iosefo Namoce surges through the Nadi defence during the Skipper Cup semifinal on June 15, 2024.

Suva rugby robust young center Iosefo Namoce said they will need to be the better team against Nadroga in the 2024 Skipper Cup final at Ratu Cakobau Park, this Saturday.

“It’s either we go hard, or we go home,” Namoce said.

“I’m thankful to God for giving us the strength and our strong bond as a team as that was the motivation for us to beat Nadi.”

Namoce said the players had given their full physical effort against Nadi in their 38 –16 win last weekend.

“I hope that my rugby career progresses to a professional level; that will be a bonus,” he said.

“I also play sevens in the forward’s position.”

Namoce has been playing rugby since he was in primary school.

“All I can think about in the field against Nadi was to maintain our spot in the final and defend the Skipper Cup trophy.”

Namoce is confident that his team will defend the Skipper Cup title against the Nadroga Stallions on Saturday.

Successfully defending the Skipper Cup this season would be a tick in the box and a step closer to getting a rugby contract as a professional player for Namoce.

“We have to make better decisions on the field and work together as a team in the final,” he said.

“My message to the youths out there is to work hard in their pursuit of a rugby career as anything is possible.”

Namoce acknowledges the Suva supporters that turn up in numbers through this season up to their semi-final clash against Nadi last week.

Namoce was instrumental in Suva’s 38 – 16 win over Nadi last week as the Nadi players could not contain the Nakama, Macuata lad in his strong running and physical play.
