The Fijian Drua yesterday reported a staggering 35 per cent increase in viewership of Drua matches in 2024 compared to the 2023 season of Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific.

The highest watched regular season match for the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua men was the Round 9 match against the Hurricanes, while the most watched match for the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua women was the Super W semi-final against the Western Force.

The numbers received reflected the number of devices logging on to the Walesi app to watch matches free-to-air on FBC Sports.

The numbers have been confirmed by Walesi.

Fijian Drua chief executive officer Mark Evans said: “We are delighted by the very strong growth in viewership numbers. We can safely say that on average, an estimated 50 per cent of Fiji’s population watch a Fijian Drua men’s match live.

“This is a spectacular result in any market and makes the Drua the most viewed content in Fiji. The viewership for the women’s matches is also steadily increasing which bodes really well for the growth and appeal of the women’s game in Fiji.”

Evans added: “We thank our fans – who are the world’s best fans – for their continued support of their Drua.

“Viewers enjoy our brand of rugby as we take on some of the world’s best clubs in Fiji, Australia and New Zealand. Additionally, our commercial partners benefit greatly from the reach we offer.”
