We will be ready for any sort of revenge.

This was the message from the Fiji Pine Lautoka rugby head coach Peniona Ranitu as they face Jack’s Nadi in tomorrow’s Skipper Cup quarterfinal.

The Maroons upset Nadi in the INKK Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy and are very much aware that the hosts will be coming to avenge that loss.

“Nadi is a very good side and we respect them,” Ranitu said.

“It will be a very good game laced with abundance of talented players, determination and that element of revenge,” he said.

Ranitu said they want to cement their spot in the Skipper Cup semifinal.

“That will be our first time and it’ll be history for Lautoka if we’re able to reach the semifinal.

“We have identified some areas that we need to work on from our Farebother loss to Naitasiri.

“The boys have been working on their recovery and set pieces especially with our lineouts and scrums,” he added.

Ranitu added that morale is high in camp as they are ready physically, mentally and spiritually.

Lautoka is expected to field Fijian Drua full-back Isikeli Rabitu, Drua development player, Frederick Ralulu and former Drua flanker Raikabula Momoedonu.

“Rabitu, Ralulu and Momoedonu have really motivated the boys at camp. They have impacted the players from diets to sleeping schedules, which really helped the team on our way forward,” Ranitu said.

The Lautoka side will leave no stones unturned for the quarterfinals as they know Nadi will field Drua utility back Tuidraki Samusamuvodre and veteran Serupepeli Vularika.

When asked about how Lautoka will counter Nadi, Ranitu said: “It all comes down to the players. We are preparing them for a tough battle. We know it will not be easy.”

Ranitu has urged their fans to come to Prince Charles Park, Nadi, to support team.

The match kicks-off at 3pm.
