Lautoka dumps host out of FACT

“We are depressed, and all are down in morale, but, we will come back stronger,” he said.

The Defending Champions of the Digicel Fiji Fact are still alive and could not be intimated by the huge Labasa crowd after they dumped the host, Labasa, 1-0, out of the tournament.

Sitiveni Cavuilagi’s 74th minute goal gave the Sugar City side a chance to defend their title tomorrow.

Both sides were equally matched with Lautoka striker, Sairusi Nalaubu and Labasa’s Akeimi Ralulu, proving a handful.

Both goalkeepers, Labasa’s Jitoka Vulava and Lautoka, Senirusi Bokini, made several stunning saves.

The lapse in concentration to clear the loose ball inside the Labasa 18-yard box was a problem as Lautoka scored the winner.

Labasa coach, Ravneel Pratap, said his players gave their best effort.

Pratap said it is sad to lose in front of their fans especially playing at home, but, they will regroup.

“We are depressed, and all are down in morale, but, we will come back stronger,” he said.

Pratap admitted that goal scoring remains a concern.

“We had numerous goal scoring chances but could not score”.

He said they continue to mould a young striker, Eparama Moraica, with experienced Christopher Wasasala, to build a formidable combination for other tournaments.

“Moraica made a difference after missing two games, and he helped the side with attacking plays,” he said.

When approached, Lautoka president, Shalendra Prasad, said the win is a reflection of the hardwork put in during the week.

Prasad emphasised they managed to not concede a goal in a semi-final, which is a statement performance.

Game recaps

Labasa defender, Akeimi Ralulu, created and drove some long range shots, but, could not score.

Nalaubu used his speed well to create overlaps and co-striker, Saula Waqa used his height well to win high balls.
