ITSP rollout in Malaita this week

The Included Through Sport Program (ITSP) funded by the Australia government through the ‘Team Up Program’ is set to tour Malaita province this week.

This came after the team successfully completed touring a number of schools and communities in Honiara and Central Islands province.

ITSP is a program targeting people with special needs, especially those with intellectual impairment.

ITSP education sport officer Michael Kuali told Star Sport that after completing Honiara and Central Island they are now in Malaita for a similar rollout this week.

Kuali explained, the program aims to include people with special needs into the sport of athletics.  

Included through sport is one of the sports under the team up project where it started early this year. 

Reggie Hou who is also the ITSP education sport development officer said, the program has helped students and community youths with disabilities to take part in sport.

Hou added, in every special need schools and few communities they visited, a good number of people with disabilities participated in the program and showing mutual interest in athletic despite of their disabilities.

The ITSP is not only aims to engage people with disability into sport but is also part of a healthy life style.

Meanwhile, the ITSP education development officers confirmed to Star Sport that they are aiming to rollout the program nation-wide.

The team left to Auki yesterday morning.
