Hill Hopes to Continue Winning Streak

Hill said he did not study his opponent as he is focused on fine tuning his ability and strength.

Jonathan Hill is hopeful in continuing his winning streak with his second professional bout against Labasa’s Rupeni Rokoratu in the South Pacific boxing promotion in Labasa next month.

“Preparation has been good and we’re always prepped Winston (his younger brother) and I,” Hill said.

“My approach in this fight is to knock out Rokoratu so I can get my ranking higher.”

Hill is vying for a title fight on the condition that he beats Rokoratu.

“This is the first time for me to fight him (Rokoratu) and it’s almost like amateur boxing that we just go in and deal with it in the ring,” he said.

“My motivation to win the fight will be my son.”

Hill said he did not study his opponent as he is focused on fine tuning his ability and strength.

“It’s been good to have my younger brother Winston in my preparation and I guess it makes my opponent weary of me,” he said.

“It’ll also be my first time fighting in Labasa.”

Hill had won his first professional fight in the super middle weight division against Donasio Macedru in the Lewis Hill boxing promotions at Vodafone Arena, Suva last year.

“I’m trying to improve my fitness in my preparation with the aim to win,” he said.

“I was unfit in my last fight, but I got the job done.”

Hill said he has gained a bit of experience in his previous professional bout.

“I will be gunning for the super middleweight title of Fiji after this fight and maybe the light heavyweight as well,” he said.

“We’ll see whoever got the title, I’ll be going after them.”
