Every team is a good team, says Village Boys Under-21 head coach Epeli Matata Male.

And the Village Boys will go out to prove that they’re one of the best teams in their inaugural Fiji Bitter Marist Sevens, which starts tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

The Village Boys side is made-up of former students from Lelean Memorial School, Ratu Kadavulevu School, Queen Victoria School and Marist Brothers High School who are hoping to secure a future in rugby.

Most of these young players played in the Deans Trophy competition during their high school years.

“Everyone is preparing well for this tournament,” Male said.

“For these boys it’s their first Marist 7s and it’s what we are here for; we want exposure of their talents.

“They are passionate about rugby and would do anything to run out there with the oval ball.”

Twenty (20) teams have been confirmed for the U21 division of the 48th Marist Sevens where they face Noikoro Babaas, Dominion Brothers, Jet Set Electrical Sea Breeze, Nuku Rugby, Tubarua Highlanders, PSM Aflame Brothers, AJ Pallets Ba River, Kingdom Brothers Rugby and Ratu Filise.

The Village Boys were winners of the U21 grade at the Fiji Bitter Yalovata 7s in January and last weekend tookout the Fiji Bitter Tabadamu Sevens U20 title as well.

They will be a threat to Dominion Brothers who are the defending U21 champions of the Marist Sevens.
