The Rob Sherman-coached Digicel Fiji Bula Boys have set their sights on their next challenge against Samoa in the Oceania Football Confederations (OFC) Men’s Nations Cup 2024.

In their victory over Papua New Guinea 5-1 on Sunday the Bula Boys showcased their attacking prowess, with Thomas Dunn’s standout performance leading the charge with two goals.

This also marked Fiji’s first win in 13 years over the PNG.

Despite their confident start, Captain Roy Krishna emphasised that Fiji will not underestimate Samoa, who are expected to bring tough competition to the field at the HFC Stadium today at 7 pm.

“Samoa will be a tough opponent,” Krishna told SUNSports.

“Rankings don’t matter once you’re on the pitch. Every team in this competition is here to win, and Samoa will be coming at us full force.”

Looking ahead to the match against Samoa, Krishna stressed the importance of preparation and unity within the team.

“We are preparing well, analysing Samoa’s strengths and weaknesses. We must stay disciplined and execute our game plan effectively,” he said confidently.

“My appeal would be for our fans to come in numbers to support us. We have the home ground advantage so we would want everyone there to make this tournament one of our best outings.”

Fiji leads Pool B with three points ahead of Tahiti (3 points) due to goal average.

Fiji faces Samoa at 7 pm while before that match PNG faces Tahiti at 4 pm.
