Fiji Airways to join AA's travel rewards program – The Fiji Times

Fiji Airways will join American Airlines’ award-winning AAdvantage® travel rewards program next year.

A statement released by the Fiji’s national airline says this move is set to grow Fiji’s tourism sector whilst providing additional travel perks for passengers.

Fiji Airways customers will be able to join AAdvantage® by visiting either Fiji Airways website or the American Airlines website.

Andre Viljoen, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Fiji Airways said “this loyalty partnership unites two distinguished airlines to provide new benefits to millions of travelers.”

“Joining the AAdvantage® program is a key component of our game-changing strategy to elevate our brand and accelerate our growth in North America and throughout our network,” Mr Viljoen said.

Through the AAdvantage® program members will enjoy a seamless experience when traveling on Fiji Airways, with Elite members receiving benefits such as priority check-in, priority boarding, complimentary baggage allowance, preferred seats, and enhanced award redemption.

The AAdvantage® program is the longest running travel loyalty program in the world – the program started in 1981 to reward frequent flyers. Now, AAdvantage is much more than a frequent flier program, it’s a travel rewards program that gives members access to unparalleled experiences, with more ways to earn and use miles, and more rewards and status benefits.

Anmol Bhargava, American’s Vice President of Partnerships said, we are taking our partnership with Fiji Airways one step further by offering our mutual customers the opportunity to unlock more destinations and travel experiences through the AAdvantage® program.”

“We look forward to welcoming Fiji Airways customers into the AAdvantage® program so they can experience all the ways we deliver on our commitment that travel is better as an AAdvantage® member.”

This collaboration with American Airlines follows the major announcement that Fiji Airways will become the 15th full-member of the oneworld alliance in 2025.

“As we’ve said on many occasions, we fly for Fiji. What these partnerships will do is put Fiji on the map for millions of potential travelers from North America and around the world. That’s exciting for Fiji,” Mr Viljoen said.

This collaboration establishes a platform for Fiji Airways’ growing customer base to earn and redeem more rewards and status benefits.

This is expected to boost visitor numbers from North America and have a positive long term impact on the local economy.
