At 31, Rumaana Vualiku Sheikh’s journey from a small village in Ba to graduation day is a testament to her resilience and determination.

As the eldest of five siblings, raised by a single mother, Ms Sheikh faced numerous challenges along the way. But she never lost sight of her goals.

Attaining a Professional Diploma in Business Management marks the culmination of years of hard work and sacrifice, considering the fact that she returned to school after a decade, often balancing night shifts with afternoon classes, and struggling with exhaustion.

But despite the numerous hurdles, she remained focused on completing her diploma.

“There were tough days,” she said.

“But I kept reminding myself of why I started and pushed through.”

Working at Mindpearl and later at Fiji Airways, Ms Sheikh managed her studies alongside a demanding job.

With struggles now behind her, she feels confident and reassured because the dream she once worked tirelessly to achieve has become a reality.

Her siblings traveled from the West to support her and celebrate the milestone occasion.

Ms Sheikh’s story isn’t just about academic success, it’s a powerful example of perseverance.

“My mum has always been my biggest supporter,” she said.

“Seeing her sacrifices made me want to succeed even more.”

With plans to pursue further studies, perhaps an MBA, Ms Sheikh’s journey continues.

Her experience proves that it’s never too late to pursue one’s dreams, no matter what obstacles get in the way.

For Ms Sheikh and her family, her graduation is not just a personal achievement but a beacon of hope and inspiration.
