Aldi customer’s confusing find on receipt

An Aldi customer has been left surprised after discovering an unusual charge on their receipt.

The Aldi shopper took to popular Facebook group Aldi Mums to share a photo of her receipt, where she highlighted a charge that read “groceries 10 per cent”.

The total cost of the add on was $20.60.

“Has anyone ever seen this ‘groceries 10 per cent’ in Aldi tickets and can tell what it is,” the woman asked.

“I have seen the GST is different and goes in the bottom. I don’t really know what I have paid $20.60 for.”

Several shoppers urged the woman to go back for a refund, while others who claimed to work at Aldi suggested a button had been mistakenly pushed while entering a code for another item.

“There is a small button on our register that says 0 per cent GST and another 10 per cent GST. These buttons are hardly used but can be mistakenly pushed during scanning or punching in codes for produce. Take the receipt back to the shop and they will refund,” one person claimed, according to Yahoo.

Another person, who claimed to be an Aldi employee, said: “If you purchased meat of the same value, we sometimes have to process it using a button on our registers if the barcode or code isn’t working. Check your meat items first and see what it is that you could’ve been charged for.”

News.com.au contacted Aldi Australia but they declined to comment.

However, news.com.au understands with certain items, such as clearance products, there is a bespoke code for inputting a specific price point when the scanned code is no longer the correct price.

Aldi encourages customers are also always able to return to the store or contact Aldi’s help centre if they have questions about their receipt.
