120 Kids for IYFA Champions League

More than 120 children including girls will be part of the Extra Supermarket sponsored International Youth Football Academy (IYFA) Champion’s League tournament at the Fantasy Island ground in Nadi tomorrow.

More than 120 children including girls will be part of the Extra Supermarket sponsored International Youth Football Academy (IYFA) Champion’s League tournament at the Fantasy Island ground in Nadi tomorrow.

IYFA chief executive/ director Rivaz Ali said this would the last tournament of the year and it include teams from Suva, Navua, and Nadi

Academy.They will b playing in the three categories, Under-10,Ul2and Ul5.

 

“IYFA has more than 150 kids, boys and girls from the ages of four to 16 who are in the Suva, Navua, and Nadi academies,” Ali said.

“IYFA has four major tournaments in a year.

This is the last one and there will be eight teams in the Under-10, eight Under- 12 teams, and four Under-16 teams that will compete.

 

“It’s not only a competition but it brings footballers to showcase their talent and play competitive structured football.”

Ali added the children train six days a week and play four IYFA Champions League (ICL) tournaments.

The winner of the League will be decided for each of three categories UlO, Ul2, and U16 respectively.

 

IYFA annual awards night Every year IYFA holds an annual awards night where the children are recognised for their efforts throughout the
year.

“This year more than 120 kids will be receiving awards, certificates, and medals.

“IYFA will also recognise ICL tournament champions, players of the year for each category Under-10, Under-12, and Under- 16, upcoming players, most talented players, most disciplined play, IYFA super starts, golden boots, golden glove and academy of the year awardee,” Ali said.

 

Member of Parliament and FijiFirst general secretary Faiyaz Koya will officiate at the awards nights at the Fantasy Events Centre.

The Extra Supermarket-sponsored ICL tournament will be from 9am to 2pm while the annual awards night will be held from 5-9pm
