Back To Basics For Natabua High U18 Girls Rugby Team

We lost in the quarterfinal last year and we came back this year hungry trying to get further then the quarterfinal.

The Natabua High School Under-18 girls rugby team will look to improve their discipline and basic techniques in next week’s Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy semi-final.

This was the gist of NHS head coach Inoke Vucago’s interview with SUNsports after their 41-0 thrashing of Nasinu Secondary School on Friday.

“We lost in the quarterfinal last year and we came back this year hungry trying to get further then the quarterfinal,” he said.

“It’s one game at a time for the players as they prepared well prior to the quarterfinal.”

Vucago said he told the players to pile on the points at halftime after they were leading 17-0.

Most of our players have been playing in the Marama Championship for the Nadi, Yasawa and Lautoka under-20 clubs, he said.

These players were well groomed to be playing 40-minute rugby.

Vucago said the players would need to put in a better performance in the semi-final.

I’m very proud of the players as they’ve trained hard and done 80 per cent of their game plan. They were hungry for the win.

Vucago had dedicated the win to the parents, teachers and students of NHS.

Our biggest strength is our forwards as you can notice that they have been dominant but we also have a strong backline so there is a balance, he said.
