Vakalalabure’s Sons Signs

The sons of former Fiji welterweight champion Tevita Vakalalabure will be fighting in the South Pacific Boxing Promotions (SPBP) in Labasa on Friday, August 10.

SPBP promoter Fred Chand confirmed to SUNsports that Vakalalabure’s sons Kimo and Kali are part of the programme.

“They are training with their dad at Natewa Bay,” he said.

In an exhibition bout, Kimo is fighting Nasoni Rawaci of Bua while Kali takes on Junior Saula of Labasa in a four-round contest.

Chand said the promotion is part of SPBP’s to help revive boxing in Vanua Levu.

“The last boxing programme in Labasa was nine years ago,” he added.

The North has been known for produced renowned boxers like Isimeli Radrodro, Atunaisa Camaibau, Inia Catarogo, Samuela Vocea, Sikeli Veitala, Lorima Rakula, Noa Bukai, Vakalabure, Atama Raqili, Nat Ledua, Jare Lalakai, Bobby Shah, Setefano Vasuibau, Sharamat Shah and the list goes on.

The main bout sees Fiji super welterweight champion Winston Hill taking on Roy ‘Tsunami’ Ser of Vanuatu. The programme also features three title fights.
